#Gratitude30 Day 24:Knowledge . I am #grateful to my parents for working so hard to be able to send me to the best schools in the Philippines. Thank you Mommy and Daddy. . Today has been about understanding how to best educate my daughter in this day and age. As a parent, I want the best for her, lay the ground work so she grows up not just smart but someone who has a lot of heart and is genuine. How do you teach a kid #empathy ? #kindness ? #love ? Be an example. By living it. We try. . Too early to be thinking about schools, but it’s never to early (nor too late) to be #kind , to show #empathy and to choose #love even when it’s difficult and would mean that you’ll be ostracized. . Who knew there’s so many school philosophies to consider for preschool or school in general? #montessori #waldorf #co -op #charter . This will be good for nighttime reading. #Gratitude30 Day 21:Technology . Grateful for living in this day and age where everything has been efficient and fast and convenient because of technology. But it also made it frantic and chaotic at times. In other parts of the world up to this day, there are people living the most simple way and thriving. . We’ve been #unplugged (mostly) this past week and it feels good. In the world of smart devices, I’ll let it be the smart one to do the work for me so I can play more with my rambunctious toddler. . Embracing the joy of missing out JOMO (the joy of missing out) is the emotionally intelligenqt antidote to FOMO and is essentially about being present and being content with where you are at in life. You do not need to compare your life to others but instead, practice tuning out the background noise of the “shoulds” and “wants” and learn to let go of worrying whether you are doing something wrong. JOMO allows us to live life in the slow lane, to appreciate human connections, to be intentional with our time, to practice saying “no,” to give ourselves “tech-free breaks,” and to give us permission to acknowledge where we are and to feel emotions, whether they are positive or negative. Instead of constantly trying to keep up with the Jones’, JOMO allows us to be who we are in the present moment, which is the secret to finding happiness.
