Keto Cookie Dough! I can’t even begin to tell you how much this takes care of my sweet tooth! Now I don’t always recommend heavy amount of dairy during Keto, but some here and there isn’t an issue unless you have some sensitivities or intolerances. We could spend a whole day on that. Point is, this is a nice treat. Here is a breakdown of the ingredients I used. 1/2 Cup of Dark chocolate chips - Lilly’s stevia sweetened 5 tablespoons of grass fed butter - Kerry Gold 6oz of cream cheese or an alternative 2 tablespoons of a sugar alternative - Swerve 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract Blend and then that easy you have a treat! It’s more like a cheesecake cookie dough batter, and for me that makes it even better. Enjoy!! Thank you @lowcarbwithjennifer for the recipe!
It’s been long understood that the more antibiotics taken early in a persons life the higher their risk for several conditions, namely type 2 diabetes. Some new research published in the journal Clinical Nutrition shows that pregnant mothers who had been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes improved their fasting glucose and insulin levels by simply taking vitamin D and a probiotic! The research also showed that the combination of Vitamin D and Probiotics lowered their triglycerides, VLDL-cholesterol and C-reactive protein. These are all markers of inflammation. This supplementation also increased their serum glutathione levels, which is the bodies most powerful antioxidant! https://www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com/article/S0261-5614(18)32523-8/fulltext

Living, healing and growing will always have challenges and difficulties. Moving anything of mass creates friction, it’s that resistance that changes us. When we get to where we are going we will be changed, and that is the gift.
Taking a few days in Costa Rica to reflect on lessons learned this last year and to set intentions and goals for the upcoming year. Take some time to appreciate how far you’ve come!
It’s far easier to maintain health than it is to regain it. Medicine is the prescription when you’ve already lost it. Diet, rest, exercise, stress management and supplementation is the prescription for keeping your health! We wish everyone good health through the holidays and into next year!
Our annual holiday party was a great time and what was even better was how our friends really came through to support our @ronaldmcdonaldhousecharity toy drive. We are on our way to drop them off. The holidays are much better when filled with gratitude and giving.

The rejuvenating and healing effects of sleep are so important to longevity and overall health. On the other end, research shows just two nights of poor sleep increases inflammation and causes insulin resistance! Do yourself a favor, protect your health and protect your sleep!

Having your labs within a “normal range” doesn’t mean your health is. Labs ranges are based on the entire population, and having them in the “normal” window doesn’t mean that it’s optimal for YOU. A well versed clinician will look at all of your labs in relation to each other and take note in even the subtlest of shifts and the patterns that are emerging. Each lab value is a small temporary glimpse into the window that is your health and the direction of how and where it is moving. Your health is dynamic, never static, and moment by moment you are either moving towards or away from a state of well being.

Why not start right now, and from where you stand? If you are looking to make a change in your health or in your life in general, there is not time like now. Even the smallest amount of change is still change. Remember, a baby step forward is still a step forward.
The search to find an effective solution for low thyroid symptoms can be incredibly frustrating for a majority of sufferers. That has a lot to do with the fact that the typical standard of care is inadequately equipped to handle the real cause, or even to identify it. It’s time we change the conversation about low thyroid symptoms away from merely being a thyroid problem and direct it towards the root cause. It’s estimated that 20 million Americans have a hypothyroid situation and 90% of those are due to an autoimmune situation where there immune system is damaging the thyroid. The problem therefore is an immune system issue. It’s this very reason that a majority of people who are taking thyroid medications still feel like they have poor thyroid function. An additional nuance to the whole issue is that many times there may be an issue converting thyroid hormone to its active form and or transporting it to all the body’s many tissues. At the heart, you can’t truly know the cause unless you thoroughly test. And only then can you work on a realistic solution. If you are being treated for low thyroid hormone symptoms and still feel poorly, you owe it to yourself to have someone look at the complete picture.
You cannot create a new future with the same mindset and behaviors of the past. Every week our team is faced with huge adversities and odds when it comes to reversing someone’s health. A simple supplement, herb or treatment is not enough intervention to change a lifetime of damage, deficiency or neglect. Creating a new future means an entire lifestyle plan that includes; new thoughts, new behaviors, new routines. If you have been suffering from a chronic illness and are looking to overhaul your health you need a knowledgeable team, a systematic plan, mentoring and focus.
With consent from her parents I’d like to tell you about a special patient of ours. This was Addie in 2016, not much older than 2 years old and already on a regular pattern of hospital visits for what was diagnosed as “”unrelated inflammation” in one joint then another. After being told multiple times to go home and take aspirin for the next few days, her parents grew frustrated with the paralyzing pain Addie was regularly succumbing to. After a referral to our office from Addie’s aunt, we sat down for over an hour pouring over the hospital visits, the details of Addie’s suffering, her lack of growth and low energy we decided on what was the next best steps. Based on her history and symptoms we decided on a detailed stool and microbiome test to see what may have been going on in Addie’s digestive tract. In our office, our rule is “test don’t guess” which is exactly what we did. After 2 weeks of waiting for test results it was determined that Addie had a serious amount of inflammation in her gut, along with dysbioisis and a particularly nasty pathogen. Research on this pathogen has shown that it was responsible for errantly starting an autoimmune process where her immune system was tagging her synovial fluid for destruction. We immediately set a plan in motion that included a complete dietary change focused on anti-inflammatory foods, botanicals and supplements to heal the gut and eradicate the pathogen as well as recolonize her gut with healthy flora. After nearly 8 months of dedicated adherence to our plan Addie’s energy increased, she began growing like a normal child and has not had a single hospital visit or issues with her joints. It doesn’t matter what your problems may be or your age, there are certain things your body needs to properly function. Root cause medicine, whether is Traditional Chinese Medicine, Functional Medicine or another modality.....you need to know what is the root behind your suffering. Simple rule to start with is to Remove what’s not supposed to be there and Replace it with what is. #inspiration #health #baby
There is no replacement for hard work and perseverance. Maintaining your health takes work over time. When you lose your health, you have to make up the time and the effort and you have a lot less time in which to do it. Stay strong, stay on the path.
